Reconstruction of tram tracks in Plzeňská street
ZEVYP a.s. has participated in the reconstruction of tram tracks in Prague’s Plzeňská street as a major contractor for construction work. The reconstruction, which lasted less than four months, was completed earlier than scheduled, on 17 September 2010, and is yet again evidence of an efficient construction project.
Modernisation of the tram tracks took place in a 6.5 km section from the Plzeňská – Jinonická junction to the tram loop at Sídliště Řepy. Throughout the renovation work on the tracks, substitute transport was provided for the separate stages of construction so that the reconstruction would have the least possible impact on public transport services. A new method was used on this track: for only the second time in Prague, grooveless rails were laid, along with a new sub-surface, allowing the deployment of all types of trams. The new technology will also bring a significant reduction in noise, which will be especially welcomed by residents from nearby buildings. In addition, 11 improved stops with barrier-free access and an information system will offer passengers more convenience.
Thanks to the involvement of ZEVYP professionals and the precise coordination of the individual activities, the project was completed on time and to high standards, thus achieving maximum efficiency without any significant impact on the surroundings.
Refurbishment of the tracks was the responsibility of the pairing of EUROVIA CS, a.s. with Skanska a.s., for which a major part of the construction work was provided by ZEVYP a.s.
