The ISO 14001 standard defines requirements for an environmental management system (EMS). The core objective for introducing this standard is the support for environmental protection and preventing pollution. It is based on identification of all possible aspects that can affect the environment. The organisation itself then determines how it puts the greatest burden on the environment and looks for suitable methods for the gradual reduction of environmental impact.
